Therapy Approaches

Making mental health practical, grounded, and transformative

I offer therapy that integrates science, mindfulness, and compassionate presence. My work blends Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT), trauma-informed care, and—when appropriate—psychedelic cannabis–assisted therapy to support meaningful, sustainable change. Across all modalities, I focus on helping clients develop interoceptive awareness, emotional regulation, and insight through evidence-based methods rooted in both neuroscience and longstanding contemplative traditions. Whether working individually or in groups, I offer structured, skills-based programs that cultivate resilience, reduce reactivity, and strengthen the mind–body connection. My approach is grounded, intentional, and centred on empowering clients to build the internal capacity they need to navigate stress, heal, and grow.

Mind-Body Healing

MiCBT integrates traditional mindfulness training with CBT techniques to target the underlying processes—like emotional reactivity, avoidance, and dysregulated attention—that contribute to many forms of distress. Because it works at this process level, rather than focusing on specific symptoms, MiCBT is a truly transdiagnostic approach supported by clinical research. I offer MiCBT to clients seeking a structured and evidence-based method for reducing anxiety, burnout, and trauma-related patterns while strengthening interoceptive awareness, emotional regulation, and psychological resilience.

Transformative Healing

I offer psychedelic cannabis therapy for clients seeking deeper emotional processing, insight, and mind–body awareness within a structured therapeutic framework. Using intentional cannabis consumption alongside mindfulness, interoceptive awareness, and trauma-informed guidance, this approach helps loosen rigid patterns, access underlying emotional material, and work.  Sessions include preparation, guided experiential work, and integration to ensure the experience supports meaningful, grounded, and sustainable change.

One-on-One Support

I work with adults navigating stress, anxiety, burnout, trauma histories, life transitions, and periods of emotional overwhelm. My approach is grounded in mindfulness, MiCBT, and trauma-informed care, helping clients develop regulation, insight, and resilience. Individual sessions offer a focused, supportive space to explore patterns, build effective skills, and reconnect with a steadier sense of self and well-being.

Community Support

I offer structured, skills-based group programs that blend mindfulness training, MiCBT principles, and guided experiential practice to support emotional regulation and resilience. Group therapy adds the therapeutic benefits of shared experience, connection, and accountability. Each program includes weekly sessions (virtual) and a one-day retreat (in person) to deepen practice, integrate skills, and create meaningful change in a supportive community setting.

About
Dr. Alia Offman, C. Psych

I’m Dr. Alia Offman, a registered psychologist who has spent more than two decades working at the intersection of mindfulness, psychology, and experiential approaches to well-being. My path began with meditation and yoga over 20 years ago, and those practices continue to shape how I live and how I work—through presence, curiosity, and a commitment to living as holistically as possible. I share my life with a lively household of kids, pets, and a small farm that keeps me grounded, connected, and reminded daily of the rhythms of nature.

Professionally, my work brings together clinical practice, academic teaching, and research. I have taught mindfulness and well-being for many years as a Contract Instructor at Carleton University, and I serve as the Co-Director of the North American Chapter of the MiCBT Institute, where I collaborate on training clinicians across Canada and internationally. My research background includes work on workplace stress, relationships, discrimination, and mental health, and I continue to teach and train in Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT) and emerging psychedelic-assisted approaches.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in mindfulness, compassion, and evidence-based methods. Whether working individually, in groups, or in psychedelic-assisted sessions, I aim to help people build emotional regulation, insight, and resilience so they can reconnect with a steadier sense of self and navigate life with greater clarity and intention.
